Quinta da pedra alta located in the midst of breathtaking nature, at the foot of the Serra da Estrela, the upper region of Portugal, the Quinta da Pedra Alta is an ideal starting point for a number of activities.
The middle region of Portugal is regarded to be one of the most beautiful regions for walking-tours. The landscape is adventurous and authentic. The summits of the Serra reach to almost 2000 meters. The slopes will offer you a variety of ruggid nature, green valleys and authentic agriculture. If you are interested in cultural activities the alleys and little streets of the ancient towns of the Beira Interior, often leading to an old castle, will offer you everything you desire.
Apart from walking-tours, tours on horseback along rivers and through valleys, and canoeing on the beautiful Mondego river are exciting possibilities, and for the real daredevils amongst you mountaineering or delta flying! Apart from all this the area is very well suited for motor-cycling.
As you can see, there is enough to do for everybody. If you’re in for a tranquil intermezzo you can visit Coimbra, one of the oldest and most beautiful university cities of Europe, at less then an hour from the Quinta. Take a walk through it’s narrow alleys, visit a Tascas (a sort of Portuguese pub), listen to the famous Fado of Coimbra or the serenades given by the local students. Enjoy the ancient architecture and mingle amongst the Portuguese!
If you are longing for the southern sun, with the sound of the Atlantic at the background, the bathing resorts of the Beira, Figueira da Foz and Aveiro, will offer you everything you are looking for.
The Quinta da Pedra Alta is a farm of over 200 years old, and recently has been completely renovated. It’s mixture of authentic details and modern comfort make it a warm and unique place to be. By using natural materials like wood and stone, and by using natural colours, the Quinta is completely in harmony with it’s surroundings.
The Quinta is divided between a main house and a side house, both interconnected however by a sunny terrace. The main house has five spacious and well lit rooms, two of which have their own balcony. For it’s two bathrooms we have chosen for a combination of authentic details, combined with modern equipment. The spacious and cozy kitchen will give you the opportunity to prepare your own meals, which you can enjoy at the terrace of the living room. Later in the evening, when it’s getting a bit chilly, you can continue in this living room which has a fireplace.
The side house consists of two bedrooms, each with it’s own bathroom. The cosy living with adjoining kitchen is the finishing touch.
If you’re in for a short walk, the vineyards and olive yards, surrounded by pine forest, provide ample opportunity.
